I'm Seemin (Sea-Mean), and I assume you are here to learn about me. You can take a look at my LinkedIn for a more professional synopsis, but if you're here, you probably want to find out 'who I am' and 'what makes me tick'.

 

I love thinking about and making digital technologies - as part of that, I'm currently in a research-based Masters degree in User Experience Design, which I think of as a bridge between my expertise as a software engineer and digital media scholar.

I like to support people, and help techies think holistically about technology - so far, I've been a peer coach with two different departments at UofT, an HCI TA for computer science students at UTSC, and a Design Thinking TA for media communication and technological innovation students at UTM.

​

I like to read web-novels - in fact, I like them so much, I published a paper and spoke at a conference about it!

​

A research-design area I'm currently interested in is critical design.

​

A technology application I am curious about is adaptive- and generative-AI systems in VR/XR systems.

​

And a digital media trend I am currently following is the evolution of creator-led media platforms that built their audiences on giants like Youtube (e.g. Nebula.tv).

​

I also have a cat - he's the protagonist of a speculative design workbook I showcase at a conference in March 2024.
